I didn’t fall in love with Lake Como from the shoreline. I fell in love with what happened when I wandered away from it. The little stone villages above the lake. The forests and mountain paths. The sound of cowbells somewhere in the distance. The tiny restaurants where lunch still feels like lunch rather than an attraction. The conversations, traditions and rhythms of everyday life. And the extraordinary contrast between one of the world’s most famous destinations and the quiet communities sitting just a few kilometres above it. That’s the world Como Alta Renew was created to share.
Hi, I’m Debs I’m originally from the UK and now live in Naggio, a small mountain village above Lake Como, with my husband David and our dog Mia. My professional life has always centred around people, experiences and what helps us feel more alive. For many years I’ve worked with people through counselling, coaching and immersive personal-development experiences. Alongside that has always been a deep love of travel, particularly the kind that allows you to understand somewhere rather than simply visit it. Moving to Italy brought those worlds together. Como Alta Renew grew from a simple thought: What if visitors could experience the places we love in the way we would show them to a friend? Not racing between landmarks. Not following an umbrella through a crowd. But walking, eating, talking, discovering and allowing a place to unfold.
Why “Como Alta Renew”?
Alta means high.
Geographically, Como Alta Renew takes you upwards- into the valleys, mountains and villages surrounding Lake Como.
But for us it also describes a different perspective.
A little slower.
A little deeper.
More curious.
More connected to the landscape, people and rhythms of the place you’re visiting.
It is why our tagline is:
A Different Altitude of Living
Because travel can be more than seeing somewhere new.
Sometimes changing where you stand changes what you notice, and in turn how it renews both yourself and the very landscape you’re part of…
Lake Como, but different…
Small by design
Como Alta will never be about moving large groups of people through identical itineraries. Our experiences are intentionally small. Often just one, two or three guests. That allows us to respond to the weather, the season, the people we’re with and the opportunities that appear along the way. It also means our presence in the places we visit remains respectful. We want tourism to contribute to local communities rather than overwhelm them. And we want the people who travel with us to leave feeling that they have actually experienced something, not simply photographed it.
Local. Personal. Unhurried.
You don’t need to see everything. You don’t need to rush. You don’t need to experience Lake Como the same way everybody else does. Come a little higher.
